HBD, part of Henry Boot, is developing a new 16,490sq ft unit at Airport Business Park Southend for The Event Co following the rapid growth of the business.
Construction will begin on-site in June 2025, with The Event Co expected to move into its new building by the end of the year. The company has been located within The Quad at Airport Business Park Southend since January 2023 and has chosen to remain at the development, taking a new unit at plot 4.
The Event Co is a successful event and exhibition AV production company with clients including London Fashion Week, Tommy Hilfiger, Very and The Shard. The company is also a supplier to some of the largest exhibition venues in the UK & Europe such as London ExCel and London Olympia.
Airport Business Park Southend is a joint-venture between HBD and Southend City Council. It has quickly become one of the city’s most successful business destinations, with occupiers including IPECO, which now has a total of 257,000sq ft at the scheme, and CAMA AssetStore.
Jamie Clarke, Director of The Event Co. said: “HBD have been a great help with our rapid growth since Covid, making it possible to have a larger, clean working space to store, test and service our audio visual kit. The larger warehouse will also feature a state-of-the-art demo space for our clients to visit and view the latest technology to bring their events to life.
It’s a very exciting time for The Event Co and we look forward to welcoming new staff from the local area to aid the expansion going forward.”
Ed Hutchinson, Managing Director of HBD, said: “We’re always pleased to see businesses thriving within HBD developments, creating new jobs and supporting the local economy. The Quad was created to provide modern space for SMEs like The Event Co to grow, so it’s great to see the business now moving into a larger purpose-built unit and choosing to remain at Airport Business Park Southend with its excellent connectivity and range of facilities.”
HBD has now completed a total of 355,550sq ft at Airport Business Park Southend. A further 290,000sq ft of space is to be brought forward, 77,108sq ft of which has planning consent. Airport Business Park Southend is very well-located, adjacent to Southend Airport and close to the M25.
