Naylors joins IAMP delivery team as commercial property agent

North East-based Naylors has been appointed as commercial property agent on the International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP) as construction continues apace.

Works to prepare the 370 acre site for the next stage of development are now underway, with infrastructure being installed for roads, drainage, utilities and environmental mitigation work on the first phase of IAMP.

Construction began on the first building on IAMP earlier this year, and it will open later this year.

IAMP is being delivered in a joint venture between Sunderland City Council and South Tyneside Council, with HBD as appointed delivery partner. The first phase, IAMP One, covers 125 acres and will deliver 1.6m sq ft of advanced manufacturing space.

Tom Wheldon, Regional Manager at HBD, said: “It’s great to have Naylors on board – the team brings significant knowledge of local markets and the companies driving the economy within the North East, so they’re well placed to support IAMP as we welcome further occupiers.

He continued: “Interest from potential occupiers has remained robust – particularly from manufacturing and engineering companies with large requirements, and smaller business looking for light industrial and warehouse space. With its port connections, strong local skills base, significant power capacity and connectivity, there is no better location for companies within the automotive and advanced manufacturing industries.”

IAMP has been designated a ‘Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project’ by the UK Government and will see scores of bespoke manufacturing facilities being built on the site, creating more than 7,000 jobs over the next 10 to 15 years.  £42m has been pledged through the North East LEP towards infrastructure including new roads, bridges and environmental enhancements to support the development.

Chris Donabie, Director, Naylors, said: “It’s great to be appointed on such a unique and important scheme for the North of England.  IAMP is already capitalising on our region’s strengths in the automotive and advanced manufacturing industries, beginning to provide the very best buildings and environment for businesses to thrive.”

Keith Stewart, Director, Naylors, said “IAMP is already building real momentum, with infrastructure works and development underway, and several recent announcements on further occupier take up. It’s a real game changer in terms of the scale of the offering, and connectivity in the heart of North East – not to mention the Enterprise Zone benefits to occupiers.”
