Property developer HBD has submitted planning permission for a further 27,500 sq. ft. at Airport Business Park Southend as the 25-ha scheme continues to expand.
The application has been submitted on behalf of CAMA Group, which specialises in post-production sustainability for Film & TV. CAMA has developed a global software platform that enables studios and production companies to share assets that are no longer required, investing in the circular economy through reuse and repurposing. Its new site at Airport Business Park will become the headquarters for the business’ logistics operation, servicing studio development in the Thames Estuary Production Corridor.
Harry Bunbury, Director at HBD, said: “Airport Business Park is an important development for the City and work is continuing to progress well on site. CAMA is an excellent fit for the scheme and will contribute to driving growth and investment. Provided planning is approved, we aim to start on site later this year.”
“We have seen strong demand from potential occupiers looking for bespoke, well-located industrial and logistics space – particularly given the continued shortage of new Grade A stock coming through. The ability to offer small units as well as larger, bespoke build options has proved popular and we look forward to completing on our Quad scheme, comprising 12 separate units, in the coming months.”
Cllr Ian Gilbert, cabinet member for Economic recovery, regeneration and housing, said: “Not only is it wonderful to see another well-established organisation submitting an application for Airport Business Park Southend, but one that specialises in a circular economy, which supports the Council’s Green City Action Plan and environmental commitments.
“It is clear the Business Park is becoming increasing vital to driving opportunity, prosperity and economic growth of both our new City and the wider region, creating more local employment and providing opportunities for entrepreneurs and local businesses to expand and new ones to invest.”
Airport Business Park Southend (ABPS) forms part of an ambitious new vision for Southend-on-Sea. It is being delivered in partnership between HBD and Southend-on-Sea City Council.
£150m is being invested in delivering high-quality space and infrastructure, building a collaborative ecosystem to drive growth. The “Launchpad”, a dedicated facility designed to champion innovation in the area for start-ups and SMEs, is expected to complete this summer ahead of occupation in early 2023.
Adjacent to London Southend Airport and close to major transport networks, ABPS benefits from unrivalled connectivity within a successful and established business location.
