HBD secures planning approval for two further developments at Airport Business Park Southend

HBD, part of Henry Boot, has secured planning approval for two new developments at Airport Business Park Southend (ABPS), bringing forward circa 77,000sq ft of industrial space.

Plot 9 will deliver a detached 16,451sq ft building with car parking located at the front of the building and a service yard to the rear.

Plot 10 will see the creation of terraced units totalling 61,000sq ft, replicating the scheme’s successful Quad development. A dedicated loading area will accommodate smaller delivery vehicles, including vans and 10-metre rigid trucks, and several units will also be capable of handling large HGVs.

The core warehouse units across both schemes will be accompanied by office and amenity space, while a landscaped outdoor area will help to integrate the site into the green corridor that runs through the park. Tables and benches will offer a place for people to relax, eat lunch and socialise.

Hamer Boot, Managing Director at HBD, said: “We continue to see strong demand for high-quality industrial space at Airport Business Park Southend, so it’s positive to be able to deliver an additional 77,000sq ft. We’re pleased to be able to extend the scheme further, attracting new investment, supporting business growth and creating new jobs.”

Cllr Matt Dent, Cabinet Member for Business, Culture, Music and Tourism, said: “It’s encouraging to see continued interest in Airport Business Park. The park remains an attractive location for businesses looking to grow and invest, supporting Southend’s business community and local economy.”

Units are available on either a freehold or pre-let basis, with construction expected to begin in 2027.

Located next to London Southend Airport, ABPS provides a range of high-quality industrial and commercial space designed to support growing businesses. With strong road, rail and air connections, it has quickly established itself as one of Southend’s key business destinations, attracting a diverse mix of occupiers and bringing new investment and jobs to the city.

HBD has now delivered a total of 370,500sq ft at the scheme, which is a joint venture partnership with Southend-on-Sea City Council, with further development planned across the site.

The agents for Airport Business Park Southend are Dedman Gray, Kemsley and Cushman & Wakefield.
