HBD has revealed plans for its newest project in Birmingham, Neighbourhood; 420 apartments alongside a striking double-height winter garden and new public space, hosting year-round events and home to the city’s best independents.
The proposed scheme will see the transformation of the former Sytner car garage, turning a disused site into a vibrant new community.
The developer has shared its plans at a consultation event, where the team revealed its vision for Neighbourhood and asked the local community for feedback on the proposals. The final day of the consultation takes place on Thursday 30th June.
Neighbourhood will comprise a host of amenities for residents, including private gardens, roof terraces and social spaces, plus a gym, lounge, work-from-home areas and an on-site concierge.
New planting and rain gardens throughout will boost livability; one of many features included within the design to ensure that the scheme is sustainable.
Simon Raiye, Director at HBD, said: “This is a fantastic site and an important gateway into the city’s historic Jewellery Quarter – our proposed scheme will completely transform the area, creating an exciting new development that has been designed for everyone to enjoy; residents and visitors alike.
“Along with 420 high-quality new apartments across a collection of new buildings, we will have a carefully curated selection of independent cafes and restaurants which will be clustered around a new urban garden. We are looking to create something really special which is full of character and complements the surrounding area with place making and community at its heart.”
HBD acquired the 2.6-acre site in April 2021, working carefully on its plans for the new development to ensure that the contemporary scheme is designed in keeping with the historic Jewellery Quarter.
Neighbourhood has been designed by award-winning architecture practice, BPN Architects, along with re-form Landscape Architecture, a team focused on creating sustainable places.
